Last updated: 4 October 2026

GeoSweeper is classic Minesweeper played on boards cut to the real shape of 204 countries, plus two more worlds: Classic mode, free-form Minesweeper on any board size and difficulty, and Infinite Tower, an endless climb. It plays fully offline, keeps your progress only on your device, and asks for no account and no personal information — see the Privacy Policy for the full detail.

Frequently asked questions

What’s included

GeoSweeper has three worlds. The Globe is 204 countries, each a Minesweeper board cut to that country’s real outline, grouped into four size-based tiers: Beginner, Intermediate, Expert, and Mega. Classic is a second world: free-form Minesweeper on a plain rectangular board, where you pick the board size yourself and one of five difficulties, Easy to Insane, with a History of your finished games. Infinite Tower is a third, separate world: an endless climb, one row at a time, with no map. Settings covers board theme (Country themes, Classic, or Neon), map style (Globe or Flat), explosion effect (Shockwave, Embers, or Chain), blast sound, sound and haptics, and your display language. Your Record shows wins, losses, win rate, and best times, by tier and by country. Countries lets you browse and search every country, filtered by completed or remaining.

Devices and orientations

GeoSweeper needs iOS 17 or later and runs on iPhone and iPad, in portrait and landscape.

What does it cost?

Each of the three worlds has its own free trial. The first 10 countries you play, from any tier including Beginner, are free — and once you’ve played a country it stays replayable for good, even after that trial is spent. Classic mode gives you 10 free games the same way. Infinite Tower’s first 10 rows are free too. Everything beyond those points is a separate, one-time purchase — nothing in GeoSweeper renews or bills automatically, and nothing you haven’t bought is ever billed without a purchase confirmation from Apple first.

Unlocking the rest of the map

All Countries is a single one-time purchase that permanently unlocks the Intermediate, Expert, and Mega tiers for every country. It does not renew and is not a subscription — you buy it once and it’s yours.

Unlocking Classic mode

Classic Lifetime is a single one-time purchase that permanently unlocks unlimited Classic games once your 10 free ones are spent. It does not renew and is not a subscription — you buy it once and it’s yours.

Unlocking Infinite Tower

Infinite Tower Lifetime is a single one-time purchase that permanently unlocks climbing past row 10. It does not renew and is not a subscription — you buy it once and it’s yours for good. GeoSweeper offers no subscription for the Tower or anything else.

I paid but it’s still locked

Tap Restore Purchases in Settings. This re-checks what your Apple Account owns and unlocks it again — it’s free, and works on any device signed into that same Apple Account, including a reinstall. If it still shows locked afterward, write to us with your device and which purchase it was.

Does reinstalling reset anything I bought?

No. Purchases are tied to your Apple Account, not to the app’s local files, so Restore Purchases brings them back on a fresh install. Your per-country record and Infinite Tower progress, on the other hand, are local to the device — reinstalling clears those, the same way deleting any file would.

Refunds

Apple handles all refunds for purchases made through the App Store — GeoSweeper has no way to issue one directly. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Privacy

GeoSweeper stores your settings and progress only on your device. It has no account, no ads, no analytics, and no third-party code of any kind. Full detail is in the Privacy Policy.

Children and classrooms

GeoSweeper carries a general-audience age rating. There’s no chat, no sharing, no social feature, and no advertising anywhere in the app.

How country shapes and difficulty work

Each country’s board is generated from its real outline — tiles only exist where the land does, coastlines bend the board, and the smallest islands come already open as scenery. The tier (Beginner, Intermediate, Expert, or Mega) is set by the country’s size, not chosen by you. Nearly every board is checked by a solver so it can be cleared by logic alone, and your first tap always opens onto safe ground — a mine is never waiting under it.

How Classic mode works

Classic is plain Minesweeper, played your way. You set the board’s width and height yourself and pick one of five difficulties — Easy, Medium, Hard, Expert, or Insane — which sets how densely the board is mined. As on the map, every board is built to be clearable by logic alone and your first tap always opens onto safe ground. History keeps the size, difficulty, time, and result of each finished game, stored only on your device. Your first 10 Classic games are free; Classic Lifetime unlocks unlimited play after that.

How Infinite Tower actually works

Open every safe tile in a row to unlock the row above; hit a mine and that row starts over. From row 100 up, hitting a mine also knocks you back down a few rows, not just to the top of the current one — this is disclosed here because it’s easy to miss until it happens. Mine density increases the higher you climb. Your row, viewport, and cleared rows are saved after every row, so closing the app never costs you progress you’ve already banked.

Where the data went

The board you’re actively solving — every tile and flag — exists only in memory while you’re on it, in all three worlds. Close the app in the middle of a board and that board is gone for good; only a finished win or loss is saved to your record or Classic history. There’s no undo and no autosave mid-board by design.

Settings and accessibility

Sound and haptics each have their own switch in Settings, independent of your device’s silent switch and Reduce Motion setting. The board theme, explosion effect, and blast sound are all cosmetic — they never change what’s under a tile. The in-app language picker is separate from your device’s system language, on purpose: once you’ve picked one, changing your phone’s language afterward won’t move GeoSweeper out from under you.

Reinstalling and data loss

Deleting GeoSweeper deletes your settings, your per-country record, your Classic mode history, and your Infinite Tower progress from that device — there’s no server copy to restore from afterward. Purchases are the exception: they’re tied to your Apple Account and come back with Restore Purchases on any device signed into it, reinstall or not.
